The tiny lump that presses in on his chest leaves him feeling even more fragile than she looks, though. He never expected to make this mistake twice in his career. Partners aren't supposed to make him this vulnerable.

"Get better," he whispers, leaning in and brushing a kiss against her forehead, before settling into his chair to doze.

Aw. I was basically about to write a longer version of this, but this is so sweet and wonderful that now I can't. ;)

I love this line. Mulder's emotional fragility is one of the things I love about him--that he feels things deeply, when they matter to him, and is capable of being shaken by them

I love the way they were together. I also like this because always liked them better not being a couple, and this lets me pretend they're still special magic friends. :D

I loved the show when it was BFF and UST and more BFF. It had more appeal, and made the kiss in the first movie so poignant, and then we could pretend it didn't happen, and have tortured emotions....
