This is your day, and it is not a day for thrift-shop trousers no matter how shiny they seem under starlight.

Whatever Curt sees in your eyes, it is enough that he wants to climb out of the darkness behind his own and into yours; that is what your eyes say, come to me, come on me, come on, come on. His fingers are between your waistband and your skin. His gaze is dark as wine, his hair is a veil; he reeks of a smoke-bound frontier that you could never cross before, of burning all bridges, of leather and lust. He might be Curt Wilde, but he does not want to be Curt Wilde tonight, and you're an obliging lad; he can be nothing more than your first given kiss, tender and fumbling and desperate.

His touch could have hurt you, if you had cared to be hurt.

You smile against his cheek, you laugh into his mouth; thin-lipped, you are - and that's got to feel strange for Curt, you're not like what he's used to kissing, that lipstick-stained lushness. You're cheeky, no gamin or androgyne or witful wordy creature descended from some gods and monsters; you're a lad with sparkle in your eyes and all through your hair because you put it there, and Curt's rough, and you tumble, and you're laughing for the bruises, the both of you.

Without a glam-and-clash spotlight, you discover nevertheless how to hold your audience's attention. Bow, Arthur Stuart, and flourish your non-existent triumph of rouge and velvet. On this rooftop, you will wield your sexuality like a sparkling sword, lad, you'll laugh as you slice each coming stone, every word that ever wounded or confused, into dust! - glittering stars! - into shimmering glass shards that spray champagne into the air, this is a celebration! Homosexuality, bisexuality, you don't give a damn what they're going to call you, and you're so proud of you. Arthur Stuart is not like that: you lick your sexuality from Curt Wilde's impossible lips and you, Arthur Stuart, find you needs no more word than that right now, sexuality, no unnecessary prefix or poetry required.

After, you are lying on your back, singing a song that isn't one of Brian's, kicking your heels. Curt listens. An eyelash curls on his cheek, a shooting star up above; such a waste, where there is no immediate need for wishes.

I like that sentence especially, beginning with the image of Arthur licking Curt's lips ;) And the feeling of contentement by the end, considering how sad Arthur is in the other part of his life that we get to see. Thanks for sharing !

[Filled] Long Time Coming

They never kissed that night, the night that glitter died. It was something that Arthur held in the back of his mind for years, and the first thing he thought of when he heard Curt's voice over the phone. After the night in the bar, the idea would drive him to distraction, and it was paired with a new thought. The thought that he missed his second chance. Watched it walk right out the door, another moment of regret to replay in his head.

Everything happened so quickly after the story ran that Arthur barely had time to get his current life in order, so thinking about the past just wasn't on the agenda. The offers had come flying at him hard and fast. Some of the offers came with better pay, others with a place of better standing. In the end he decided to take the one that would take him back home. Today was the last day, and he waited until everyone else left before starting to pack up his things. It would only take one box, but it seemed to take forever to get everything into it. It all had a memory attached, and his mind was forcing him to relive them. At the bottom of the last drawer Arthur found the one thing he was waiting to discover, the notebook he was using on the Tommy Stone story. It felt heavy in his hand as he reached to pick it up.

"You thought I didn't remember.”


The sound of that voice sent a shiver down Arthur’s spine, and he fought to keep it together. Turning to look he saw Curt, leaning on someone's desk with his arms crossed over his chest. He was smiling, and the sight of it made the blood pound in Arthur's ears. He threw the notebook into the box, and struggled to find the words, some kind of passive remark.

"I...I wasn't sure."

"You're leaving” the sudden neutrality of Curt’s tone threw Arthur off. He looked up to search Curt’s face for something more, a bit of feeling, but he only faced a wall.

"I'm going home, I got a job offer."

"Home? Arthur are you sure? It's a warzone over there." There it was, the slip of some feeling, and now Curt's face was giving him away. A furrowed brow and the hint of a frown moved with him as he stepped closer to Arthur's desk.

"I'm sure. I'm a journalist; warzones are part of the job detail."

Curt shrugged his shoulders before shoving his hands in his pockets. Arthur watched the wall go back up, and a distance grow between them as Curt started to walk away.

"Just be careful alright?"

"Curt, wait."

Arthur only let him go one more step before reaching to grab Curt’s arm. They faced each other now, and stood silent. Curt was the one that acted first, reaching to rest a hand on the back of Arthur's neck to draw the two of them together. Their kiss was awkward, desperate and perfect. This one little act changed two lives, and as far as both of them were concerned was a long time coming.

I probably regret as much as Arthur that there weren't any kiss between them, that we could really see anyway, and I feel like you've made it a bit better :)
